Ethnic Skin
The skin's epidermis contains melanocyte cells that produce melanin,
the pigment that gives skin its natural color and also tans the skin
after it has been exposed to sunlight. Every person has the same number
of these cells, but their size and the type and amount of melanin they
produce varies among ethnic groups. Asian, olive and dark skin contains
higher concentrations of melanin and more active and larger melanocyte
cells, which produce a darker skin color. Due to its darker tone, two common skin problems are
found more often in people with Asian, olive and dark skin than those
with fair skin: Ashy Skin. When darker skin
becomes too dry, the flaky and rough patches take on a gray or ashy
appearance. Keeping the skin well moisturized can help it look and feel
softer and smoother.
Hyper-pigmentation.
After an acne blemish or an injury, a darkening of the affected skin (hyper-pigmentation)
can occur. This happens in all skin types, but it is more visible in
Asian, olive and dark skin because of increased melanocyte activity
after the injury. It is important to protect the skin from UV and
sunlight with sunscreen to prevent these spots from developing and
further darkening. A dermatologist can also advise treatment options to
help fade darkened areas.
ThermaClear can
help reduce the hyper-pigmentation associated with acne because it
stops the pimple in its tracks before it ever has a chance to surface
and cause the problem. ThermaClear won't discolor your skin, and
clinical study results conducted across gender and all major ethnic
skin types indicated no significant adverse reactions or lasting
undesirable after-effects. You can learn more about how ThermaClear has
